METAL COIL RESTORATION

Studio_Project.jpg

Imagine watching this 40,000 lb galvanized steel coil, after being unloaded at your facility, lose its structural integrity and turn into a steel coil pancake right in front of your eyes. Imagine that you needed this material to fulfill a time sensitive order for an important customer. Imagine that you didn't have SOS Services, Inc.'s number... well, this steel distributor did, and was able to slit the coil, trouble-free, and deliver it to their customer right on time.

Caused by a coating issue at the manufacturing plant, the winding tension on this coil buckled inward, completely deflating the eye.

Specializing in emergency on-site service at locations nationwide, SOS Services, Inc. immediately dispatched a team and the appropriate equipment to the customer location, confident that we could repair the flattened coil within 24 hours.

We opened up the flat coil safely, utilizing our soft coil support system, and then carefully pressed the tension buckle back into place utilizing a series of 12 hydraulic rams. Next, we inserted steel sleeves into the coil to maintain the correct 24" I.D. size and hydraulically locked them in place. This technique successfully corrected the entire shape of the coil, preventing it from loping out of round. Completed within 12 hours from the first call, the restoration work did not compromise the quality of the wound steel and the distributor was able to fully use the material.
